Amaquelin Rainie Blackwell is a product of in-vitro genetic manipulation. During one of those freak coincidences, a scientist named Rainie, from Starshield Labs, was on vacation at an archaeological dig when she stumbled upon a vial that was believed to have been some kind of potion. But in deciphering the inscription, Rainie realized that this vial contained the blood of a being that should have been a myth, Ἑρμῆς ὁ Τρισμέγιστος, the Greek god of alchemy, also known as the Kemetian god Ḏḥwtj.
Stealing the vial from the dig, Rainie took it back to Starshield Labs where she was quickly equipped with her own genetics lab with the task of cloning or creating a super-powered being. It took nearly a year, but she was successful when she realized that cloning wasn't an option, but splicing the DNA coding from the ancient blood sample with human DNA could work.
Whether karma or just good fortune, Rainie went out clubbing to celebrate the discovery of splicing and a few days later, found herself pregnant. It was the perfect opportunity and before she could be stopped, she introduced the splicing procedure with her own embryo, and it worked.
According to all the testing by the rest of her team, who had been shocked and appalled at her actions, Elaine's fetus had been successfully altered by the grafting of the ancient DNA. The pregnancy went forward on schedule and nine months to the day, a baby girl was born, completely surprising everyone as all scans said it should have been a boy. Naming the new child after her mother, on November 7th, 1963 Amaquelin Rainie "Eve" Blackwell was born.
Eve is now 95 years old and seems to have stopped aging at the age of about 25. During the program, Eve met Douglas Ambrose and the two became in-synch with their movements and thoughts, as Adam read her body language and responded.
The mission objectives for the two of them would be to travel to near-by planets and determine viability for colonization. Should they come into contact with alien life, if the culture was already exploring space, then First Contact would be made. If the alien life was not yet ready to explore the stars, or were considered too aggressive, then a message was sent to Eden and that planet, and system, would be placed off-limits to exploration or colonization.
Should a planet be found to be without life, but could be terraformed for colonization, then together, she and Adam (Douglas's codename for the mission) would use their vast powers to create an atmosphere and planetary environment that would eventually support human life. Once that task was complete and beacons were set for colony ships to land safely, the pair of them would climb aboard The Planetary and head out in search of alien friends among the stars.
