History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

Glacier is tasked with protecting the entire continent of Antarctica from poachers, squatters, and illegal settlements.

As a scientist himself, Glacier works closely with the scientists from around the world in an effort to preserve and study the continent.

It was Dr. Forest Grim who spearheaded the campaign that made Antarctica an independent nation. A nation not beholden to any other country. The event that solidified the continent as a new nation was when a team of eco-terrorists attacked the Amundsen-Scott Research Station where Dr. Grim was stationed. The scientists were able to escape to the South Pole Ice Tunnels hidden beneath the station, but the attackers dropped grenades, causing the tunnels to collapse.

This triggered Dr. Grim's meta-mutant gland and he began to grow in size and strength, and stopped the cave-in long enough for the scientists to escape.

When he reached out to grab a terrorist, Grim's ice powers manifested and he froze the entire group of them. Sadly, because they were now dead, and they had no identifying paperwork on them, no one knows who sent them. So Grim, taking the pseudo-name Glacier decided to stay on as the protector of the precious ecosystem that Antarctica presented, as well as acting as guardian of the new nation.
