Now...About Those Transformers

January 28, 2014

In a previous article I wrote about how an idea can capture me, lead me into a long project, and then leave me high-n-dry with no way of actually implementing the idea.

Today I would like to talk about another idea that has stayed with me and been a constant source of irritation.

This new idea occurred right after watching the first Transformers live-action movie (not the 1986 animated one).

In that movie (which GMC paid to be the major sponsor of) all the Autobots became GMC vehicles (well, except maybe Optimus Prime).

This made me a little irritated.

I understand the idea of getting a corporate sponsorship and all that, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

So I got to thinking about what would really happen in this world if alien robots of advanced technology came to Earth and transformed into Earth vehicles in order to hide their secret identities.

Question:

Would you, if you were an alien robot, choose only ONE brand of vehicles?

And would you only choose the most mundane of them?

Answer:

Heck NO!

So what would you choose to transform into?

Something cool?

Something advanced?

Maybe even something that only exists in "science-fiction?"

That last question hit me pretty hard.

After all these are ADVANCED ALIEN ROBOTS!!!

They are already using technology super-geniuses (like me) only dream of!

That means that if they happened to get a hold of a detailed schematic or technical manual of, say, the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701, they could potentially transform into it.

Why?

Because, to them, it may not be that advanced and the technology we don't understand could be something they can provide.

Something far-fetched becomes a reality.

Sounds like I'm stretching it a bit thin here, but if you think about it, how far-fetched is the idea of transforming robots anyway?

With this question burning my brain I decided to take up the task of putting together another database of Autobots and what I think they should turn into.

First I went and found lists of Autobots, but only the original series Transformers that existed on television and in the comics.

Then I got pictures of what they looked like in robot form.

After that I researched the vehicles they turned into.

With that information I then started finding more advanced vehicles for them to "upgrade" to, but I tried to keep to the same make or model of vehicle.

A few of them I went outside the box, but with the Dinobots and others, I had to.

(PS: I made the Dinobots triple-changers!)

I then did the same thing with the Decepticons.

Science Fiction Truth?

January 27th, 2014

I've been thinking a lot, lately, about Star Wars.

Mainly because of the following picture that was posted on Facebook some time back.

At first I thought it was funny. Then I started really putting some thought into it.

Why?

Because right after I saw that I saw this...

Star Trek: Deep Space 9

Unused Script

January 28th, 2014

Okay, so this isn't official.

This is a sample of a script that I wrote for the Season Premier of Season 7 of ST: DS9.

I was hoping to finish it in time to send it in...but then LIFE got in the way and I wasn't able to complete it in time.

This is one of my all-time FAVORITE humorous stories!!

If you can read this whole story without tears of laughter running down your cheeks, then there's no hope for you!

For those of you who have lived in Texas, you know how true this is.

They have a Chili Cook-off about the time the Rodeo comes to town.

It takes up a major portion of the parking lot at the Astrodome...

If you haven't known this about me before you will soon realize that I love science-fiction and fantasy stories.

One of my favorite authors is Mercedes Lackey.

Her series, called Heralds of Valdemar series, is one of my all-time favorite series!

I’ve read all of them at least twice...some more than that...

How I Think and

How You Benefit From That

It is so difficult to calm my mind.

I cannot ever just empty my mind in order to find that peace within as many people claim to do.

My mind is constantly firing away ideas, running through scenarios, and making it difficult to relax.

Many times an idea will come into my head that I feel borders on Amazingness.

It hits me so hard that I have to work on it as much as possible in order to get it all down so I can see it.

It is usually a "fantasy" in that the idea will never happen, but in my head I feel that I MUST complete the project in case something like it does happen...

Elseworld Ideas

Elseworld Ideas

February 25th, 2014

Elseworlds is the publication imprint for a group of comic books produced by DC Comics that takes place outside the company's canon.

The imprint presents narratives in which existing characters or storylines are introduced to an entirely new idea or concept and often put into alternate timelines or realities.

Unlike its Marvel Comics counterpart What If...?, which bases its stories on a single point of divergence from the regular continuity, most Elseworlds stories instead take place in entirely self-contained continuities, with the only connection to the canon DC continuity being the presence of familiar DC characters...
