TIMELINE OF VELGARTH

What To Know

Below is a monumental effort to record every event within the lands of Velgarth.

As each new chronicle is written, new events will appear and old events may be adjusted.

In a world of poets and historians, there will be many different viewpoints and histories.

Not all will line up with reality.

Therefore, it is the effort of the Herald-Chronicler, the Guard Archivist, the Collegium Historian, the Rethwellan Royal Archivist, a kyree historian, and their assistants, to find the truth and pinpoint, to the best of their ability, the exact moment of these events.

Those moments in history that are not yet verified (non-canon) are clearly marked as are the locations of the manuscripts and histories where each event can be found, should further research be required.

During this process, Collegium Historian Assistant Trica, is updating the Rolls over on the Valdemar Wiki.

Check it out to stay updated.

Gifted twins Milla and Orun are Chosen on their tenth birthday. As they journey towards Haven, they tell their Companions Sorcha and Torin that their foresight has shown them that they have two possible futures: service to Valdemar, or Darkness. The Darkness is systematically killing everyone with the “spark,” a gift they are about to manifest, "what the songs say Herald Vanyel does on the Karsite border.” The Companions recognize it as the mage-gift, and say the continuing deaths explain why there are fewer mages being found and chosen. They increase their speed towards Haven to notify the Circle.

Three Days Later

After recovering for a night at a Waystation, they sense a large attacker tracking them. They flee the road and enter the woods. Orun thinks they are tracking his wound, and they separate hoping that one of them will make it to Haven. Torin and Orun are killed, and when the monster catches up and wounds Milla, Sorcha sends her on ahead and defends their rear. Milla continues afoot, but Sorcha soon realizes the monster is too strong for her to defeat. Milla hears a loud noise behind her, and suddenly the forest is silent. She eventually reaches the road, and trudges on towards Haven. She passes out, and wakes when a tinker picks her up and treats her wounds. Milla is relieved and pours out her tale as he consoles her. Suddenly his tone of voice changes, and she realizes he is the Darkness. He kills her.
